Negotiated my first-ever raise instead of switching jobs, and it worked

atRazorpay

Everyone said you have to leave to earn more. I brought data, a competing range, and a calm ask. Got a real bump without the notice-period rollercoaster. Sometimes the grass is greener where you water it, with evidence.

Internal negotiation with a real external offer as leverage is underrated. Well done.

Rant

"We are a family here" is a threat, not a benefit

Every time I hear it in an interview I mentally add 20% to the expected chaos and subtract the boundaries. Families do not put you on a PIP. Say "team" and mean it.

Rejection

Rejected post-offer because they "restructured the team". Offer rescinded before I joined

atSalesforce · rejected

Signed, resigned my old job, then the offer got pulled in a reorg two weeks before joining. Legal in most places, devastating in all of them. Do not resign until the start date is locked and, if you can, keep a backup warm.

A rescinded offer after you resigned is a nightmare. Never burn the old bridge too early.

You've reached the Mariana Trench. That's everything for now.
